"In September he started with what seemed to be a sinusitis. He couldn't even go to school. They sent us to the hospital in Holguín where they operated on him for a polyp, but they found thetumor deep in the nose. We were there for three months waiting for an ambulance that would bring him to Havana," said the mother.
The child was admitted to theWilliam Soler Pediatric Hospital, where he has been for a month and a half and the doctors still have not decided what to do with his case, because they assure the family that "there are no resources."
"My childhas a tumor and here they are looking for the resources for that surgery but no one tells us what type of resources are needed. My husband sleeps on some cardboard on the floor, in the information area of the hospital. We have no way to stay here without work, this is unsustainable," said the grieving woman.
They are experiencing an extreme situation in a city they do not know and where they do not have family or a network of friends to help them support themselves, especially in the current context ofcrisis in Cuba.
"We need help. Really, I have to get the child's surgery and I have almost no way to feed ourselves," said this Cuban mother.
