They look for a package thief in South Florida homes using a U-Haul van

The incident occurred in the city of North Lauderdale, Broward, last Tuesday, January 16, around 3:34 pm.

Broward Police are searching for a man who stole several packages placed outside a home and took them in a truck from U-Haul, a moving vehicle rental company.

The man was captured on a security camera and authorities have released the recording to try to identify him.

The thief was dressed in a green military jacket, white T-shirt and dark pants.

The incident occurred in the 6800 block and Doral Street, in the city of North Lauderdale, where the thief arrived, grabbed several boxes that were on the ground at the entrance of the house, ran with them to the car and left.

The incident happened last Tuesday, January 16, around 3:34 pm.

"In broad daylight, taking packages that belong to someone else," said Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Claudinne Caro.

The official suggested some ways to avoid this type of theft.

"If possible, they can coordinate when they are going to receive packages, that there is a person who will receive them, so that they do not leave it at the entrance of their residence, in the open, where a person can take them," he toldAmerica TeVe.

"Another suggestion perhaps is that if you have a Pio Box, also arrange for your packages to arrive at that type of mailbox, so that someone can receive them and hold them safely until you can pick them up," he added.
