The Electrical Union of Cuba reported that the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant came into operation after a stoppage of several days for maintenance.
"1:33 p.m. CTE ANTONIO GUITERAS Online," the entity limited itself to saying on Facebook, where it is the center of constant criticism from the population.
The UNE announced on January 24 that Guiteras would leave the National Electroenergetic System (SEN) "to clean the regenerative air heaters and solveminor defects for the period of 72 hours".
Guiteras had left the SEN for the last time in mid-December, also for three days.
Blackouts have not disappeared from the daily routine of Cubans, who with luck see two or three days go by without suffering power outages.
In the last day, almost a third of the country suffered from blackouts due to a deficit of 1,000 MW of generation.
The ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel called to "correct distortions and re-boost the economy" in 2024, and announced a "great package" ofmeasures that include the increase in the electricity rate to "large consumers".
Despite this, the UNE started the year like the previous ones, with massive blackouts and various justifications.
