A federal program will grant a million-dollar sum to Miami International Airport (MIA) for improvements to its facilities.

This is federal funding that also includes Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and other airfields in Florida and the United States.

Miami International Airport (MIA) will be one of the main beneficiaries of the ambitious airport terminal modernization program, receiving a federal contribution of $27 million.

The grant program has a total of $5 billion and the Biden administration has allocated it to renew and expand airport infrastructure throughout the country.

The allocation for Miami will be allocated specifically to the restoration of the MIA Mover and improvements to the terminal lobby, changes necessary to offer a good experience to travelers.

These investments are expected to ease traffic and increase convenience at one of the busiest airports in the United States.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will also benefit, with a $50 million budget going toward a project to connect terminals behind security checkpoints and create new commercial spaces.

In addition to MIA and FLL, the Biden administration announced that another 114 airports across the country will undergo improvements, with investments of$970 million for projects that vary in scope, including concourse expansion, new baggage handling systems and terminal construction.

Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Transportation, revealed in an interview withNBC6 the competitiveness of the project selection process for grants.

He stressed the need to update airports that, designed before September 11, 2001, now require adjustments to their security devices.

Funding for these modernization projects comes from the Federal Aviation Administration and is part of government efforts to promote better customer service and new protections for travelers.

County-owned Miami Airport continues to seek personnel to join its team during this period of expansion and growth.

Last week they published an advertisement offeringJob positions with salaries that reach between 50,000 and 70,000 dollars a year. The functions to be performed included painting, mechanics, computing, among others.

The airport has received criticism for the quality of its services. One of the most recent was made by the Cuban singerAmaury Gutierrez after an incident.

He described Miami as a "banana" city and asked that a Republican government be voted en masse in the next elections.
