Motorcycle catches fire on Jagüey Grande street

The motorcycle was completely destroyed, but its driver was not injured.


Amotorcycle was practically reduced to ashes after catching fire in the middle of the street, in the city of Jagüey Grande, in Matanzas, this Thursday.

The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m., on Mora Street at the corner of 54, when the driver of the motor vehicle was traveling on the road, according topublications in the Facebook group “I love Jagüey”.

People on the street warned of thefire to the driver, who had time to get out of the vehicle, but could not do anything to turn it off.

The user Bárbara Batista published theimpressive images of the event and clarified in the comments thatthe motorcycle was gasoline, not electric.

The driver “was riding and people shouted at him because it was already on; He jumped quickly and grabbed the motorcycle at once, they poured water on it, but it was impossible,” he said.

Batista said that the man stayed there watching it burn because “nothing could be done.” A few minutes later,Firefighters arrived and put out the flames., but the motorcycle was completely destroyed.

Witnesses to the incident identified him by the name Vicente and were glad that he was not injured.

At the same time, they regretted the loss of equipment that is so expensive, and even more so at a time when thehigh cost of life in Cuba It makes it more difficult for citizens to acquire the necessary means to survive.

“My God, poor owner, he was left without a motorcycle, with the work he goes through in Cuba to have anything, thank God he is fine and nothing happened to him,” said a young woman.

In Cuba, motorcycle fires are very frequent, mainly vehicles that run on lithium batteries, which are widely used by the population due to the critical situation of public transportation in the country.

These events have caused countless material losses and, above all,dozens of deaths and injuries to those involved in the incidents.

One of the fatal events occurred last September in Havana, when the battery of an electric motorcycle exploded and unleashed aVoracious fire in the area known as Casitas de Kohly, in Vedado. The incident claimed the life of a 15-year-old teenager and injured 18 other people.
