Miami Beach police managed to capture one of the alleged thieves of aheist of 1.8 million dollars in 60 Hermès bags, stolen this Wednesday from a store located in a luxury hotel, according to official sources.
One of the thieves, identified asEduardo Travieso García, 45 years old and resident of southwest Miami-Dade County, was captured by one of the security cameras when he was rummaging through a container where the bags had been hidden, and was arrested a few hours later, authorities confirmed toLocal 10.

According to himmode of operation revealed by the authorities, the criminals put the bags in garbage containers before leaving the hotel this Wednesday.

To locate the criminals' vehicles, the police used data from the license plate reader.
One of the cars used, aHyundai Santa Fe naranja, was wanted by Hillsborough County authorities, due to a jewelry store robbery on March 9, 2023 “with almost exactly the (same)mode of operation” according to the arrest report.
Travieso Garcia was the registered owner of the Santa Fe and detectives detained him Wednesday night at his home in the Olympia Heights area.
During an interview with detectives, the thief made a “full confession,” although the arrest report does not indicate whether authorities identified his alleged accomplice or whether police recovered any of the bags.
García is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. on $100,000 bond, charged with first-degree grand larceny, theft and unlawful use of a communications device.
Likewise, a judge ordered that he be kept under house arrest if he pays bail.
