A resident of the Songo la Maya municipality, inSantiago de Cuba, interrupted the speech given by the Cuban leaderMiguel Diaz-Canel to ask him if he was aware of the populist measures that are taken before his visits to locations in the country.
Immersed in his empty rhetoric full of slogans, the first secretary of theCommunist Party of Cuba (PCC) he was surprised to hear a voice in the gathered crowd asking his permission to ask him a question.
"Let me finish!", the ruler bluntly cut off the Songo-Mayense. Once his speech was over, Díaz Canel addressed the citizen in a harsh tone and asked him:“What do you want?”.
“Did you know that, thanks to you coming today, they painted La Maya for us a week ago?”, the neighbor questioned in the crowd. The question generated a great stir among those present and resulted in Adrián (as he is identified in a video of the incident) ending up surrounded by police officers.
The identity of the daring neighbor who interrupted the Cuban leader is unknown, and there is no news that he was arrested after his critical question.
“You know, you know, you know that if I knew that every time I went to a place they were going to paint it, I would be in all the places every day”Díaz-Canel initially responded, giving free rein to the populist vein that always characterized the leadership of the so-called “revolution” and earning some applause and acclamation from those present.
After a few seconds of hubbub, the ruler finished his response and said goodbye to Songo la Maya.“What I agree with you on is that we should not do it for a visit. We must always do it, and we must always work. And that's what we're going to do. OK? Greetings to all", he concluded.
Immediately, several plainclothes repressors surrounded the young man who interrupted Díaz-Canel. In itvideo, shared by the Cuban journalistMario J. Penton, the author of the recording was heard saying:“Now, gentlemen, let's pay the lawyers for Adrián, because the police have already surrounded him.”.
While he was saying this, in the images (with very low resolution) you could see a tall and slender young man, with glasses and a white shirt, trying to make his way through the crowd while around him more and more people dressed in civilian clothes with all their faces gathered around him. typical appearance of regime repressors.
A search forCyberCubaon social networks and the Internet, managed to find the image of a young man similar to the one in the video and whose identity inFacebook isAdrian León Estalella, resident in Songo la Maya and content creator. The name of Adrián León was cited as a source byCubaNet in the case of a feminicide that occurred in that municipality in June 2023.
CyberCubaIt is not in a position to affirm that the “Adrián” who interrupted Díaz-Canel's speech is this same person, but it can be assured that the ruler's response made clear the populist formation of the leader of “continuity”, learned, of course, of the teachings of the dictator and demagogueFidel Castro, master in the art of turning “setbacks into victories.”
