Miguel Reyes Junior, the 38-year-old man arrested for being one of the alleged perpetrators of the intentional arson of a young Cuban's barbershop in Hialeah, has turned out to be the owner of another barbershop where the victim had worked as a barber for three years.
Images from a Ring camera captured the moment when Reyes Junior and another man, 56 years old and identified as Alberto González, attackedFresh Parras Barber Shop shortly after three in the morning last Friday.
In the video -disseminated byAmerica Camel- It is observed how Miguel Reyes, with his face covered and wearing gloves, broke the windows of the establishment with a wrench shortly before another man, in his case with his face revealed, threw Molotov cocktails into the establishment.
“I cut myself, Alber!” Reyes is heard saying moments before his accomplice asked him to step aside to proceed to launch the incendiary weapon.
After attacking the premises, both fled in a car from the premises, located on First Avenue and 49th Street in West Hialeah.
Alberto González remains a fugitive from the authoritiesand the Hialeah police continue their search active. If captured, González will face the same charges as Miguel Reyes.
Reyes appeared in court on Saturdaycharged with three crimes, including robbery and first-degree arson.
Jariel Esquivel, who had eight hired employees and who had only opened his barbershop a month ago, opened an account on the collection platformGoFundMe to raise funds to help you buy the work tools lost during the fire and also be able to remodel and reopen the premises.
At the moment, as he gathers the money necessary for that purpose,Jariel Esquivel has decided to continue serving his clientele at home.
“Now I'm going to two more clients' houses, thanks for the support, guys, thank you all for the support. We just have to keep going and going,” said the young man in a video published on his Instagram account.
Regarding the man under arrest - whose nationality of origin has not been revealed - he appeared in bail court on Saturday on charges of first-degree burglary and arson. During the hearing, Judge Mindy S. Glazer specified that the burglary charge could result in a life prison sentence, as detailedTelemundo 51.
In response to the request of the state prosecutor,The judge granted preventive detention for the accused and denied him the right to bail on the two main charges.Additionally, an order was issued to restrain the suspect from both the scene of the incident and the victim.
For the charge related to a destructive device used for the fire - which was a Molotov cocktail - a bond of $7,500 was imposed.
Although the furniture, the ceiling, the walls and the windows ofFresh Parras Barber Shop They were burned, the immediate response of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other premises.
The workers of the other businesses that are in the building where the barbershop is located continue to be dismayed after what happened.
“Fortunately, nothing happened to us, who are next to the barber shop. It really has been a true miracle. We are truly grateful to the Hialeah Fire Department who were able to put out the fire and we are truly grateful that our business was able to survive the flames of the barbershop,” said Karina Fábregas, a worker at a shopping plaza attached to the damaged premises.
