The political prisonerMaykel Osorbo Castillo He has been held incommunicado and in a punishment cell since last Tuesday, denounced activist Anamely Ramos.

“He called for the last time on Tuesday of this week. It is not usual because Maykel calls every day from Monday to Friday. Today other trusted prisoners called his wife to let her know that Maykel was being taken to the punishment cell because they do not want to give him the phone and he has protested,” Ramos reported inFacebook.

The member of the San Isidro Movement explained that when three days pass without receiving a call from Osorbo, they sound the alarm. “It may seem like an exaggeration, but it is not. Every day, every minute that Maykel spends there, he is in danger,” he warned.

In recent weeks, the dissident and co-author of the song “Homeland and Life” has confronted the prison repressors to protect his rights.

“Maykel knows very well what his life is worth, but there are limits that he is not willing to let others cross. If he didn't do it like that, he would already be dead. If Cuba is dominated by a mafia, what is left for the prisons, where mistreatment and corruption are the order of the day and the worst part is always carried out by political prisoners?” Ramos stressed.

The activist recalled that recently US Congresswoman Debbie Waserman Schultz sent a letter to Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States, supporting the release of Castillo, Luis (Manuel Otero Alcántara) and all political prisoners.

Ramos warned that in Cuban prisons there are always inmates on hunger strike, others are convalescing, like José Cervantes, who just finished one.

Furthermore, he denounced the situation of repression suffered by political prisoners, and mentioned the terrible situation of Roberto Fonseca, Juan Enrique Pérez and Lizandra Góngora, the latter being admitted, alone, many kilometers from her home and her children.

“His daughter was able to see Ferrer (José Daniel) after more than a year without a regular visit, only to know that he is still alive, but in inhumane conditions,” Ramos explained.

The Cuban rapper El Funky alsodenounced the abuses against Osorbo and the visual artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara: “Luisma is still incommunicado and now Maykel is in a punishment cell because they don't want to give him the phone either and he protested.”

The Amnesty International organization last Fridayexpressed concern about the situation of political prisoners in Cuba, among them the rapper Osorbo, who has been the target of repression on repeated occasions.

He also urgently called on Cuba to immediately and unconditionally release all people detained for exercising their right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

In addition to Osorbo, the organization also demanded the freedom of prominent opposition leaders, activists and artists, among them it mentionedJosé Daniel Ferrer García, of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), andOtero Alcantara, founder ofSan Isidro Movement, from whom there has been no news since March 21.

“Today he did not call and he had the right to his regulatory call,” the police denounced last Thursday.artist's Facebook page.

"We need help! Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara and all Cuban political prisoners must be released immediately. Prison is a risk for all of them, they can be attacked by other inmates, and by the forces of the regime themselves, they can contract a disease... The consequences of all this violence can become indelible. “This is torture for them and for their families and friends!” the publication demanded.

Osorbo and Otero have been in prison for almost three years for demonstrating against the regime.
