Second car fire reported in less than three days in Boyeros

“This was today on the 100 Bridge,” indicated a user from the group ofFacebook 'Accidents Buses & Trucks', which shared a video of the car explosion.

It is unknown whether the incident caused victims or injuries, as well as other details related to the event. The car, whose make is unknown, was completely burned.

The causes of the fire were also not reported and in the shared video the presence of firefighters working or police cordoning off the area, very close to which a residential building could be seen enveloped in smoke from the fire, cannot be seen.

The events occurred at the exit of the 100 and Boyeros bridge in the direction of Calzada de Vento and San Miguel, a busy area, with bus stops and street vendors.

Around the same time, a striking fire was reported on a highway in Havana,after the cab of a truck caught fire and exploded, leaving a large column of smoke.

In mid-January, one person was injured aftera car catches fire in the middle of the street in the Havana neighborhood of El Vedado. In statements to CiberCuba, a witness who witnessed the event said that the car caught fire at the moment when a mechanic was trying to fix a defect.

Days before,a passenger car caught fire at night in the middle of Havana avenue, with no deaths or injuries reported. The accident occurred exactly on 100th Street and Calzada de Vento, very close to the scene of this Sunday's accident.

Although the total numbers of vehicle fires in Cuba are unknown, the authorities have on some occasions revealed the statistics of electric motorcycles on fire and have warned about thegrowing increase in these events.

In the first half of 2023,More than 300 fires were recorded in vehicles with lithium batteries, which were put out by firefighters. Between 2019 and July of the previous year, 3,000 events of this type were recorded, in which around 200 people died or suffered injuries.
