The relatives of Montero Pita and Labrada Junco received a small printed snapshot from the directors and at the event images of the rescue efforts that lasted 48 hours after the accident were shown.

On Friday, April 7, 2023, four workers were buried after the collapse of a partition in the area of the chimney ashtray at the CTE Guiteras, two of them were rescued in time and recovered after receiving the corresponding medical attention.

“As explained by unit authorities and workers who were working near the scene at the time of the accident,It is a collapse in the internal wall of this structure built of refractory bricks and behind which impurities accumulate.", the official radio station reported thenRadio26.

The technical director of the CTE,Roman Perez Castañeda, stated that the workers were collecting debris after cleaning the lower part of the chimney, where soot accumulated. “It is a work that is carried out in large stops and that began here approximately a week ago,” explained the manager.

In his statements after the incident, the manager specified that "the chimney is prepared for the work of two units, and has a dividing wall - called a partition - of 7 and 10 meters that delimited a part that, with cleaning and The pressure of the soot from the other side caused it to collapse, also creating a toxic environment with danger to life, more because of this than because of the bruises,” explained Pérez Castañeda.

Likewise, the managerassured that the protocol had been complied with which stipulates step-by-step work procedures to be followed during technical maintenance stops.

“It was a fortuitous event, everything seems to indicate that the soot from the other side exerted pressure on the wall. Yesterday it had been checked and it was found that everything was in order," said Pérez Castañeda, who identified as the greatest danger "the inhalation of soot and toxic substances inside the chimney."

However, beyond the solidarity enunciated by the Cuban official narrative, the truth is that the Díaz-Canel government did not show its willingness to clarify what happened in the CTE Guiteras, nor did it do so in other disastrous events that concern to its management, such asfire at the Matanzas Supertanker Base -where 17 firefighters died, most of them inexperienced young people who were undergoing Military Service- orthe explosion at the Saratoga hotel in Havana -where 47 people died, including four children.

The causes of all these tragic accidents have not been investigated by independent commissions, nor clarified before public opinion with the names and surnames of those responsible.

Even so, the authorities of the Cuban regime manipulate the pain of the relatives without the slightest scruple in propaganda acts of "remembrance and tribute", while deliberately hiding the information that allows them to demand the accountability of those responsible, and fair compensation. for the loss of their loved ones.
