Explosion at the Saratoga Hotel

On May 6, 2022, at 10:50 local time, a powerful explosion occurred at the iconic and luxurious Hotel Saratoga, located in the historic center of Havana. The building was completely destroyed. The explosion is attributed to a gas leak during its transfer to the hotel’s facilities. The hotel was undergoing maintenance in preparation for reopening after being closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
