Díaz-Canel was taking a "village bath" in the east of the country, when in the middle of the crowd, the fervent cry of a Cuban woman was heard. "Oh I want to hug you and kiss you Díaz-Canel! I want to kiss you!"said the woman whose identity has not yet been revealed.
"Now I give you the kiss!", responded the ruler and smiled nervously in front of the cameras. The woman made her way through the people, and starred in her minute of glory in the arms of Díaz-Canel.
While the surreal scene occurred under the strong Guantánamo sun, a voice could be heard in the background of the video saying: "How crazy!" and he started laughing.
Díaz-Canel is making trips to the territories most affected by the economic and energy crisis in Cuba.
These visits to the municipalities are part of a strategy that he calls "being close to the people" and whose objective, as he has said in ministerial meetings, is to listen to Cubans to find solutions to the country's problems.
Diaz-Canel's visit to Río Cauto recently made headlines in the independent press, where a woman said she was bristling with emotion by being next to the socialist ruler.
In Baracoa, not only did they ask for a hot kiss, a woman also assured him that there was food in that municipality, but "you have to work on it", and apparently that is why the people do not see it pass.
Díaz-Canel did not miss the opportunity to warn the residents of such an intricate region that "don't be lazy" and work the land.
