Dozens of Cubans attacked this Sunday against Miguel Diaz-Canel upon seeing photographs of him doing volunteer work in agriculture.
The official portal Cubadebate shared on his wall Facebook photos of the ruler guataqueando in a corn field, an image that many called false, ridiculous and even disrespectful to real farmers.
According to the publication, the ruler attended very early along with more than a hundred workers from the Party's offices to a volunteer work called throughout the country, in greeting to Girón's victory.
"The president's job is not to volunteer in the field, it is to administer the country, develop its economy and know how to lead, that photo in the field is obsolete and a waste of time to focus on how to improve the economy," said a Cuban from Kentucky.
"If the people depend on that man's voluntary work, we will end up dying of hunger," said a Havana resident.
"Circus for the photo, you don't even get into the corn so as not to get itchy. Look at the guataca and clothes you clean, what it's disgusting and embarrassing. I'm 80 years old and there has never been a worse government than this one in Cuba," said one old woman.
"These things only generate discomfort in the majority of the people, in those who have at least half a brain, as we Cubans say. Respect a little at least our intelligence. Don't be the laughingstock of the world. Who cares? Do these things happen? How is the situation in Cuba, the discomfort due to needs and shortcomings that are impossible to list and they come and put this up. I suppose this is for this, to generate controversy, entertain us and divert attention," said one freelancer.
"Woooo, we will have corn for the summer thanks to our leaders," a young man mocked.
"And the state lands remain idle and unproductive. They don't do what they have to do and promote the farce of voluntary work," questioned a Havana resident.
"What a movie, after the photo, running to the car with air conditioning before the sun damages them, pure paripé," said a house landlord.
"Very clean to have worked in the fields. I don't see a single drop of sweat on him, I don't see him carrying even a sack..., in short, photos of 15 capturing his best angle," said a woman from Havana.
