Cubans on social networks have activated a campaign to help a girl from Las Tunas in need of a cochlear implant, after doctors informed the family that the island does not have this electronic device.

Internet user Tufi TA explained on Facebook that the girl, whose mother identifies herself asYailenis Peña, "she was born deaf and with periventricular atrophy with non-active compensatory hydrocephalus."

He says that the minor needs to be operated on for both conditions in Havana, but the family is from Las Tunas and they have financial difficulties in moving. Furthermore, they currently have no place to live, since they lived in a borrowed house that they had to hand over "and now they find themselves on their mother-in-law's doorstep."

The Internet user asks for help to operate on the girl and place a cochlear implant, "which they tell her there is not one in Cuba, perhaps in a few years."

However, ask for help in obtaining this small, complex electronic device that is used to help give a sensation of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or has severe hearing problems.

"If someone thinks they can help with some information on how to get it or some way to get it to them, they will be very grateful, since the sooner it is given, the sooner the girl can learn to speak and continue developing," she explains.

In addition, they ask for help to access vitamins to help the minor that are not found on the island.

Multivitamin requested by the baby's mother

For any information, those interested in helping can write to the little girl's mother, through her account.Facebook.

This Tuesday, the request of Cuban mother Marielys Pérez, a resident of Pinar del Río, who needs medication for her 16-month-old daughter Ahittana, also emerged.

The little girl suffers from West Syndrome, asevere form of childhood epilepsy. According to the mother, her baby has not woken up for several days due to the worsening of his health and the need to increase the doses of his current treatments.

The girl needs Topiramate, an anti-seizure medication that is not available in pharmacies in Cuba.

The Cuban regime recognizes the crisis of the health system and the shortage of medicines that especially affect patients with chronic diseases.

The complaints from dozens of mothers about the difficulties in protecting their sick children show the state's inefficiency in guaranteeing the health of the island's population.
