State Security revealed images of thearrest this Thursday of Alina Bárbara López in Matanzas, in an attempt to discredit the prominent Cuban academic.
The profile inFacebook "Atenea Matancera", linked to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), published a video showing López inside a police patrol banging on the door in protest and demanding that the agents finish taking her to the station.
"Let's go to Matanzas, let's go," the intellectual demands, to which the police officer responds "now let's go, you're going to break the car's glass."
The publication threatens the activist, stating that her behavior "is constitutive of several crimes such as resistance, disobedience and damage."
In the post, intended to discredit López, he is accused of "media manipulation to position himself as a political figure in Cuba" through "strategies of personal promotion and control of the narrative in the media" to "increase his visibility and generate popular support".
This message from the ruling party in Cuba has been responded to by several activists, who rejected the methods of manipulation and torture of State Security.
In her personal profile, the Cuban artist Yamilka Lafita, known as Lara Crofs on social networks, denounced the leak of the video, and the attempt at "desperate manipulation with an invalid and fraudulent speech that of course no one believes."
"What is very clear are the low and dirty methods (a man's voice is heard, surely a hero in blue who threatens her) that these characters are capable of usingin order to disqualify teacher Alina Bárbara López Hernández, a woman who breathes civility and dignity, whose right to continue on her way to Havana was violated," said Lafita.
He said the police have not allowed López's lawyer access to the La Playa station in Matanzas, claiming that they are not going to press charges.
However, they are still holding her there for no reason, the activist said.
"This is nothing more than another of the unpunished violations committed by the SE in the service of the regime. They kidnap, psychologically torture, threaten and violate the rights of citizens who dare to raise their voices in pursuit of a Free Cuba, without dictatorships" , he stressed.
A few minutes ago he confirmed that the teacher had been released.
This morning López Hernández was arbitrarily detained when she was heading from Matanzas to Havana, at the Bacunayagua checkpoint, her daughter reported on social networks.
Several Cuban activists and relatives of political prisoners denounced what they consider an attack against the intellectual and demanded her release.
The academic, based in Matanzas, was brought to trial in November of last year for the alleged crime of “disobedience”, after in April 2023 she went out with a sign to the central park of that city to demand the release of the writer and journalist. Jorge Fernández Era.
After the trial, López Hernández was found guilty, and sanctioned by the Matanzas Municipal Court to pay a fine.
