Cuban authorities issued an announcement of thunderstorms for this afternoon in a large part of the national territory, amid increasing flooding in several towns in the east of the country.
Artemisa journalist Raydel Ruisanchez cited inFacebook that "Showers, rain and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon in much of the Cuban territory", associated with the presence of a trough.
"The warming during the day, together with the presence of a trough, as well as an increase in humidity in the different layers of the troposphere will be the cause of an afternoon with activity of showers, rain and thunderstorms, mainly in inland areas from Artemis to the eastern end, which will be more isolated in the rest," he stated in his publication.
In areas likeBaracoa, on the eastern end of the island, flooding has been reported due to morning rains that made the rivers rise unexpectedly.
Also in Holguín the local newspaperNow reported that heavy downpours are reported in the city of parks.
