The heavy rains that hit the city of Baracoa since the early hours of this Tuesday have caused all the rivers to swell and, consequently, the sudden flooding of several areas.
The local television stationPrimate Vision reported inFacebook that the flooding of all the rivers in that town in the extreme eastern part of Cuba is reported.
According to reports, Mariana Grajales and Primero de Abril streets, in the Barrio de la Laguna, corner of Limbano Sánchez and Rubert López, remain flooded.
The radio journalistPablo Gomero Machado said that "the torrential rains this morning have the residents of the La Playa neighborhood in suspense, among them those of Mariana Grajales Street who suffered an unusualflooding of our homes due to the poor drainage and the high volumes of water that in two hours have filled the glass and left us with damage, humidity and drips.
Local reporter Henry Matos Galano posted shocking images of the flooding of the Joa River that has left several districts incommunicado.
"At this time, this is how the JOA river bed is with an immense flood, leaving access to part of our constituency cut off," he said.
The Cuban territory has been under the influence of heavy rains since Monday.
The day before, the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology reported that in the last few hours some rain had been reported in points of the northern coast of the center and east of the island, and that for this Tuesday the probability of rain would increase towards the interior and south.
