The Cuban regime stated this Wednesday that "more than four million" people paraded in the country's squares this May Day.

The surprising and optimistic figure surprised many, who question the statistics used by the regime to prop itself up in the midst of the serious economic, political and social crisis that the country is experiencing.

"Yes, today Cuba dawns, made up of a "sea" of people in avenues, towns and squares where the proletariat festival is celebrated, which is also a way of defending reason," published the official newspaper Granma.

The article, however, does not explain how it obtained the high statistic.

This morning the presidency of cuba he said in Anti-imperialist Tribune, where the national and largest event took place, 200 thousand people paraded.

The majority of attendees were members of state companies and students.

The government boasted strong popular support in the midst of the serious food, health and housing crisis that afflicts the majority of the population.

With endless blackouts, shortages of food and essential products and the collapse of basic services such as Health and Education, the regime continues to invest in massive marches that serve to prop up the government.

On the island, spontaneous demonstrations by the population continue to be repressed. Recently, the regime sentenced peaceful protesters from Nuevitas to 15 years in prison who took to the streets in 2022 to demand that they turn on the power.
