The Venezuelan designer and fashion advisor, Prince Julio César, will lead the Miss Universe Cuba (MUC) contest in the city of Miami, marking the historic return of the Caribbean nation to the beauty pageant after 57 years of absence.
Organizing the event is a "wonderful opportunity," stated the national director of MUC to the Telemundo channel, according to a video posted on Facebook.
The competition will take place during the summer in South Florida, as it "hosts the largest diaspora of the Cuban community," he noted.
"Everyone can participate," said the designer. "Those who were born in Cuba and came to this city (Miami)."
It also includes women who "were born in the United States, but one of their parents must prove they are Cuban, with a passport and birth certificate."
She emphasized that they should be intelligent women and "have a message to convey," while also stressing that size or physique does not matter.
Applications will be submitted online, and there will be two public casting calls, he explained to Telemundo.
"The goal is to have 20 women compete in the final night," declared Prince Julio César, who added that there will be a three-month preparation period beforehand.
During this period, the young participants will receive training in runway modeling, public speaking, and posing for photos, and they will undertake a social project.
"The beauty of Cuban women is incredible; I have always wondered how it is possible that these women are not in Miss Universe," commented the Venezuelan designer, who admitted to being very excited about this professional opportunity.
According to Prince Julio César, the most striking aspect so far has been the "reception from the public," which he considers incredible just hours after the official announcement of Cuba's return to the competition that promotes female beauty.
“People have come together in a beautiful, wonderful way, with pleasant and positive messages,” emphasized the artist, highlighting the support received for the return of Cuban women to the Miss Universe competition.
"That's the fuel the people give us to keep working," emphasized the Venezuelan.
Recently, the return of Cuba to the Miss Universe competition was announced after a 57-year absence, sparking excitement among the public.
The Instagram account Miss Universe Cuba emphasized that the opportunity arose when the new owner of the contest, the Thai Anne Jakrajutatip, mentioned that "she would like to visit the Island and left the door open for Cuban women to participate in the competition again."
