The Miss Universe 2024 pageant gave Cuba a huge reason to celebrate, and actress and host Aly Sánchez eagerly shared her excitement after seeing Marianela Ancheta ranked among the 30 most beautiful women in the world.
"What a pride to see Cuba for the first time and so beautifully represented! We won because you were among the 30 most beautiful women in the world, and that sounds easy to say, but it is not," Aly wrote on her social media, sharing photos and videos of how she experienced the moment alongside other Cubans.
In her post, the actress emphasized that Marianela did everything "flawlessly" and that her participation in the competition reflected the best of Cuban culture and strength. "We won because millions of Cubans had hope and dreams with you; we won because you are a reflection of everything that is good," she expressed, clearly conveying her pride in having supported the Villa Clara model from the very beginning.
Aly's post sparked a flurry of admiration and excitement on social media for the Cuban representation. "That's right, Cuba won last night; what you achieved shines far brighter than any award," wrote one user. "Our queen dazzled on that runway," commented another, while many noted that Marianela made her mark in the history of the competition: "You made history, Marianela, and to us, you will always be our Miss Universe."
Despite not making it to the top 12, Marianela Ancheta's participation marked a significant turning point, as Cuba returned to Miss Universe after a 57-year absence. Marianela, who had already stated on Instagram that "this is just the beginning of everything we are going to achieve," received support not only from Cubans but from people all over Latin America.
Aly Sánchez's support for Marianela is not new. In September, the actress and presenter enthusiastically celebrated her selection as Miss Universe Cuba 2024 and shared how she inspired her to enter the competition. Their connection has remained strong, and there is no doubt that both celebrate this achievement as a collective victory for Cubans inside and outside the island.
Although the crown went to the representative of Denmark, Marianela gained something even more valuable for Cubans: the recognition, joy, and pride of her people. As one supporter stated on social media, "All of Cuba, inside and outside the island, dared to dream; Marianela, you made history."
