Cubans in the United States are raising funds to repatriate the body of a compatriot who was shot to death after a traffic accident in Houston, Texas.
Laura Garay opened an account on the digital platform GoFundMe with the aim of raising 15 thousand dollars to return the young man's body to his native Santiago de Cuba.
"I am organizing this fundraising account to help my friend Omara Rodríguez in these difficult times due to the loss of her only son Yoandris," Laura said.
"On Friday, April 26 at dawn, when Yoandris was heading to his workplace, he was hit by another vehicle from the rear. At that moment Yoandris approached the other car to coordinate details of the accident and was surprised with shots fired at him. point-blank," he explained.
Laura defined the murdered young man as an excellent son, father, husband and friend.
"The pain has been a lot. Because Yoandris, his father and mother have been very loved by everyone. It is time to be able to help. I promised his mother that we would send her her little son and that is how it will be," he said in Facebook.
