Young Cuban killed in shooting in Texas

One Cuban died and another was wounded during ashooting outside a nightclub in the city of Arlington, Texas, this Sunday.

The fatal victim was identified asAbel Alberto Rodríguez, 30, according to Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office records. Authorities have not revealed the identity of the injured man.

Around 1:15 a.m. On Sunday, police responded to the Chicas Locas strip club, at 2711 Majesty Drive, after receiving a call about a shooting, they reported.local press media.

The agents foundtwo men with gunshot wounds, lying in the street, near the club parking lot.

Rodríguez was pronounced dead at the scene, whileThe injured man, 40 years old, was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover, police reported.

According to the Cuban communicator Niover Licea,Rodríguez was a native of Ciego de Ávila, father of a child anddied as a result of several gunshots. While the injured man, also Cuban, was known as “El mueca,” but he did not reveal his name.

In the comments to the publication on Instagram, acquaintances of Rodríguez said that it was ayoung man from a good family, mechanic by profession and in Cuba he lived on Libertad Street, in the Vista Alegre neighborhood of the city of Ciego de Ávila.

According to police reports, after the shooting, the alleged shooter remained at the scene of the incident and told officers that he was outside the club and argued with the 40-year-old man, with whom he had had previous conflicts.

Rodríguez, who was a friend of the latter, arrived at the scene and became involved in the dispute. Shortly afterward they becameshots, the police said.

A firearm was found near the body of the 40-year-old man, authorities said.

“Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting was carried out in self-defense.Arlington police said in a news release.

“After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office, the decision was made not to file criminal charges against the alleged shooter at this time. He was released and not arrested,” the communication stated.

Arlington police continue to investigate the incident.

This last Saturday, tooA Cuban died after being shot in the Overtown neighborhood, in northwest Miami.

Last February,A 21-year-old Cuban, recently arrived in the United States, was arrested after shooting a relative in the parking lot of Palmetto Hospital, in Hialeah.
