Two men whose nationality of origin has not been revealed were arrested this Thursday afternoon on the beach of Haulover Beach, in Miami-Dade County, after disembarking from a boat along with other possible migrants who did manage to escape.
A tourist who witnessed the scene estimated that there were 8 or 9 men who got off the speedboat.
“They took off their clothes and when they got out of the water they ran towards the city,” the woman explained in statements to Telemundo 51.
However, two of the would-be migrants did not manage to escape in time.
Aerial images showed two individuals sitting on the sand, handcuffed and wearing light clothing, while agents secured the perimeter near Lifeguard Tower 5.
The event began to be visible around 5:30 p.m., when the canal helicopter Local 10 It flew over the scene, revealing the police presence and possible undocumented immigrants on the well-known beach.
“What I filmed was by chance... The lifeguard blew the whistle and the boat left; but later returned towards the coast," said another of the tourists interviewed by Telemundo 51.
"It made me very sad because to think that they risk this, that they could even die in the attempt to flee their countries... Isn't there something that can be done so that people don't have to live that way?" added the women.
After spending more than an hour in custody, the men were escorted off the beach by Border Patrol.
At the moment it has not been confirmed whether more people were detained in relation to the landing nor have other details of the event come to light.
It is not the first time in recent years that Haulover Beach, a beach north of Miami Beach, in the North Miami area, has been the scene of a migrant landing.
