The Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, arrived at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algeria, on a technical stopover, this Thursday night.

He was received by the president of the National Popular Assembly, Brahim Boughali, and Abdelhak Saihi, Minister of Health and co-president of the Algeria-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission.

This meeting marks an important stop after the Díaz-Canel's visit to Moscow, where he said goodbye to Putin, wishing him success in the invasion of Ukraine.

The welcome ceremony to Algeria included a guard of honor. Díaz-Canel, Cuban diplomats and local authorities held a meeting to review the progress of bilateral relations.

The discussions focused on deepening economic and commercial cooperation, considering it the foundations of a relationship that has shown excellent diplomatic and political ties over the years.

This visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria is not the first by the Cuban president. I had already done one official visit in November 2022 to that nation.

The relationship between both countries has historically been strong, with collaborations in various strategic areas.
