The ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel described the energy and food situation on the island as an "emergency", during the recording of a podcast on the plane that returned to Cuba from his tour of Russia.

After taking stock of his visit, the president noted that in the meetings with Russian authorities "they talked about how we could advance faster and what new things can be done to, In the emergency we have in our country, help alleviate the energy situation and the food situation.".

He said that "that gives confidence and a very positive result in terms of collaboration and relationships but also for the life of our people."

During the program, a question and answer session with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, the president stated that there are currently more than six business projects that are in operation with Russia, there are four approved and five that are being evaluated, all linked to the energy system and food.

The island is experiencing a serious energy crisis with 24-hour blackouts, which has led the regime to anticipate that citizen protests will occur during the summer.

This Friday, dozens of Cubans exploded on social networks at the latest announcement from the Electrical Union where the state company stated that blackouts will increase in the country.

The day before several island territories spent more than 12 hours in blackout and in areas of Havana they lasted for four hours.

"If yesterday was less and we spent the entire night and early morning without power, today they don't even have it, the children go to school with hot water and soda and the bread from the warehouse is a disaster. Where are we that no one sees anything "How long?" asked another.

"Dios!! Encárgate de este pueblo de Cuba!!, I'm not living, heat, mosquitoes, care, stress!!!", says another post.

Díaz-Canel and his wife Lis Cuesta They return to Cuba from a trip to Russia in which they met with Vladimir Putin, in the context of the inauguration of a new mandate. Cubans also reacted indignantly to this trip and recalled that while the ruling class spends thousands of dollars on tours, "here we are between blackouts and shortages."
