Crashes between American-made 1950s cars (known as "almonds") and motorcycles often leave motorcyclists badly injured. Known for their heavy metal bodies, impacts with almendrons usually leave major damage to other vehicles.

However, the crash that occurred in San Antonio del Sur left traces of a strong impact on the body of the almendrón, an indicator of the severity of the accident.

At the beginning of last December, The drivers of two electric motorcycles had to be hospitalized after suffering injuries, presumably serious, when hitting an almendrón in Havana.

Days before, A motorcyclist was left in serious condition after colliding with an almendrón at the traffic light at 114 and 59, in Marianao, Havana.

The same thing happened with a young motorcyclist seriously injured after crashing in Havana with a car from the 50s, in the neighborhood of La Palma, in Marianao.
