Vehicle falls from bridge on Cuban National Highway

A vehicle suffered an accident this Saturday on the National Highway of Cuba that caused it to leave the road and fall over the separator of a bridge on that road.

Reports on social networks indicated that the event occurred at kilometer 69 of the highway, but other details of the event are unknown.

“Accident at kilometer 69 of the Highway. There were firefighters trying to remove a car that fell down a bridge,” reported an Internet user who recorded a video of the event from the bus in which she was traveling.

Shared in the group Facebook 'Bus & Truck Accidents', images taken from the bus window showed a group of curious onlookers, police officers and firefighters looking down through the bridge separator.

It is unknown what type of vehicle was involved in the accident, as well as the condition of its occupants. A video shared at the last minute shows images of the damaged vehicle, a car from the 50s, known in Cuba as "almendrones". Likewise, in the images you can see a seriously injured person.

Comments from other users in the publication indicated that the event took place in the town of Nueva Paz. Another unverified comment indicated that the vehicle was one of those known as “pisicorre,” from Las Tunas.

The author of the publication acknowledged that she could not see the accident vehicle. “Only the balusters could be seen at the entrance to the gap in the bridge that goes from Havana to the province. All ripped off. And the firefighters looking at the hole,” he replied to another Internet user.
