Cuban joins a Greek restaurant in Florida as a dishwasher and becomes one of its best chefs

Cuban Fernando arrived in the country on December 16 and immediately began working as a dishwasher at the Louis Pappas Greek restaurant in Bradenton, Sarasota.

A young Cuban who recently arrived in the United States began washing dishes in a Florida restaurant and has become one of the establishment's best chefs.

This is Fernando Armas, who arrived in the country on December 16 and immediately began working as a dishwasher at the Louis Pappas Greek restaurant in Bradenton, Sarasota.

In statements to CyberCuba, the migrant says that in January, without any experience, he began to "learn thanks to the opportunity that the restaurant gave me."

"The truth is, everything has turned out to be more than I thought, my life changed and I have received the support of the restaurant," he expressed.

Last March the establishment dedicated its social media session "History Hour" to him, where he said the immigrant is actively learning English, and that one day when they needed a cook they asked him if he wanted to try it.

"He said yes. With the language barrier and absolutely no cooking experience, Louis trained him to be one of our best chefs. He always has an amazing attitude and is a pleasure to work with, so we wanted to give him a big shoutout! Thank you Fernando, we appreciate everything you do!" wrote the restaurant.

Louis, of Greek heritage, is a restaurant that bases its recipes on the Mediterranean diet, and prepares its menu dishes with pure, healthy ingredients, such as olive oil, fresh produce from local farms, and high-quality natural meats and cheeses.

Fernando's story contrasts with that of other young newcomers who have not managed to adapt to the pace of life in the United States.

It is the case of Yandri, 25 years old, who arrived in January across the border with Mexico and was released with an I-220A document (Order of Parole), after which he settled in Tampa.

However, on social networks he expressed his disappointment about his stay in the United States, a country where, according to his experience, "life there is not as they paint it," because in addition to the jobs available "they are terrible and it is difficult to get a good job." without help", there is no time to have a social life.

In February, Yandri wrote to our editorial team informing that there had been returned to the island, where according to him "he had everything."
