Animal protectors in Cuba are calling on citizens to place containers with water so that dogs, cats, and birds can hydrate, due to the heatwave that is hitting the country and keeping temperatures high.

The organization Cubans in Defense of Animals (CEDA) warned this Thursday on Facebook about the importance of keeping animals hydrated in the face of high temperatures, pointing out that they need to drink water now more than ever.

The socio-cultural project pointed out, "Animals will thank you for it, not only dogs and cats, but also birds and other inhabitants of our cities," inviting people to join this campaign to protect the different species.

"Let's do it for those who have no one else," they stated on social media, highlighting the plight faced by animals in Cuba, often saved from death solely thanks to the efforts of animal protectors rather than government initiatives.

On social media, people have echoed the campaign by sharing a message: "If you feel hot, they do too. You can place a container of water at your doorstep so they can quench their thirst."

This Wednesday afternoon was especially hot in Cuba, where a total of 24 weather stations reported temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, and specialists predict that it will continue.

According to the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET), maximum temperatures between 33 and 36 °C were recorded. The highest value was 37.9 °C in Velasco, a town in the municipality of Gibara, Holguin.

The afternoon will be very warm with maximum temperatures between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius, higher in some inland areas. At night, temperatures will range between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius," INSMET forecasts.

The heatwave reported in several regions of the planet is affecting the animals that live in cities or their surroundings.

The high temperatures that Florida is experiencing these days resulted in a funny scene: a small baby alligator taking a dip all by itself in a water fountain at a park.

The incident occurred at a community fountain in Palm Beach Gardens, in Palm Beach County, as reported by Telemundo 51.
