Animalist criticizes firefighters' actions in dog rescue on the Malecón

“I don't have to thank them, they did their job, that's why they are paid a salary. It was quite bad that they treated all the people who called on the phone at night to report the case of the dog,” said an activist.

The rescue of a dog which was trapped in a rock near the wall of the Malecon in Havana, gave rise to a controversy over the actions of the rescuers, which included criticism from Cuban animal activists.

The events took place this Friday night and were triggered by a notice given by a user on her social networks, asking for help to save the animal from the waves and possible drowning at sea.

Finally, the arrival of a team of firefighters from the capital managed to save the dog, who was happy to be rescued and jumped into the sea to swim to his rescuers.

I don't have to thank them, they did their job, for that they are paid a salary. It was quite bad that they treated all the people who called on the phone at night to report the case of the dog. "They went because they were afraid of losing their jobs when I told them that I was going to sneak in there with all the animal rights activists and make a fuss live, because they were reluctant to save the life of this little animal," he said in the comments. to the publication the activist Yenney Caballero.

“No friend, they have the same sensitivity when it comes to rescuing a dog as a human. They risk their lives the same and give it the same importance. I work there and I know that's how it is. The one who perhaps treated them badly is the one from the fire department's command post who makes the report to the rescue command," said a user who said she worked in the fire department.

"Exact. Only we are not going to judge all those who came out on the phone, God knows what the system is like there. In any case, the 'thanks' for my publication are for you and for all those who were awake sharing and calling until the important thing was achieved, which was to get him out of there," a user told Caballero.

“Once again, thank you Yenney for defending animal rights in Cuba,” the user identified on Facebook as Pablo Puente told Caballero. “Thank you for caring and taking care of the animals,” María Pérez expressed.

“My respect to you. Always stepping forward for those who have no voice, but have more love to give us than any human,” another user conveyed to the activist.

"Update! The dog is fine now. Thanks to everyone who called... Thanks to everyone's insistence, when I called the brigade, they answered that the firefighters would be on their way and they arrived instantly," said the woman who made the call for help public, sharing several videos with moments of the rescue.
