The Cuban comedian Andy Vázquez had a beautiful gesture towards his colleague and compatriot Ulises Toirac, in case he finally decides to leave the country.
Ulises granted an interview to the Cultural Rights Observatory, in which he revealed that there are days when he wakes up and is willing to leave the country; and on the contrary, there are others when he is determined to stay.
"Here is a room available in my house," Andy offered in the post on CiberCuba's Facebook wall.
In the post, there are many other messages of support from exiled artists.
"Man, it's tough, it's damn tough and unfair, because a caste of kidnappers and bandits decide it," said the actor Armando Tomey.
"Get out of Cuba, infernal, the terrorist PCC is criminal," stated the announcer Yunior Morales.
"I arrived in Spain at 58 and I have moved forward," emphasized María Victoria Gil Fernández, remembered by viewers for her years as a presenter on the television program De la Gran Escena.
In his interview this week, Ulises Toirac spoke about the censorship he faces in Cuba and detailed the dilemma he has in deciding whether to emigrate or not. On one hand, in his country "there is nothing left for me to do artistically," and on the other hand, "starting anywhere at 60 is an epic challenge," he said.
Andy, for his part, suffered the worst of the censures on the Island: in 2019 he was expelled from Cuban television for his opinions on social media, which led him to definitively move to the United States.
At that time, Ulises publicly stated that Cuban television "will not come out of its labyrinth," and that the situation had gotten out of control by trying to blame the creators of Vivir del Cuento when the truth was that they "strongly opposed the measure."
The actor who played Facundo Correcto managed to bring his wife and daughter with him in August 2021, almost two years after his departure. At the beginning of the year, he moved to Cape Coral with his family, and in the next few days, his second daughter is due to be born.
