Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues to claim lives through its senseless actions, and the death of Cuban citizen Mario Alberto Céspedes Pérez remains lamentable, despite his ties to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), where he served as a trained collaborator in repressing his fellow citizens.

According to the Cubanet portal, Céspedes' death occurred on May 14, as first reported by a former girlfriend of his brother and later confirmed by "a person claiming to be a lawyer, who showed a photo of the deceased taken four days before, with the body being kept in a preservation chamber."

The mercenary in the service of the forces of the Eurasian nation, who fell from grace a year ago as a helpless immigrant in Moscow, was employed by the Municipal Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of Puerto Padre and in that territory of Las Tunas, precisely on Alejo Tomás street, corner of Juan Gualberto Gómez, left three children orphaned.

Precisely, the person in charge of officially communicating the news requested that the eldest daughter of the fallen, Heidi (19 years old), and the mother, Olga, have their passports ready to travel to Russia with the purpose of collecting the belongings of the deceased and to collect the compensation that corresponds to them, as established by the legislation of the government of Vladimir Putin.

Céspedes is among the list of Cubans who were recruited to participate in the invasion of Russia in Ukraine in exchange for money and citizenship, an event that came to light about a year ago, although the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior denied any links to individuals trained by both institutions in that conflict.

After the initial revelations confirming the presence of Cuban mercenaries hired by the Russian Army, Havana remained silent until September when, through a statement, the regime claimed to have neutralized a human trafficking network that recruited young people from the island.

The group involved 17 people, whose work apparently did not stop after its dismantling. And on the program "Reasons of Cuba," hosted by the renowned regime spokesperson Humberto López, he was in charge of presenting the official version of the alleged investigation carried out in record time by the MININT.

"As a result of the investigations carried out by the Ministry of the Interior authorities regarding these events, so far 17 people have been arrested, one of whom is the internal organizer of these activities, with the support of two other individuals equally residing in the country," said Colonel César Rodríguez Rodríguez.

According to the department head at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the MININT, those two detained assistants were dedicated to searching for and contacting Cubans interested in traveling to Russia as mercenaries.

Once recruited, these individuals were interviewed by the organizer who sent the data to Russia, and from there they were sent the ticket at no cost for them to emigrate," said Lieutenant Colonel Frank Hernández Estrada, head of the department of the Specialized Organ of Criminal DGI of MININT.

According to the officialist portal Cubadebate, another 14 people confessed to having voluntarily joined the operation in exchange for Russian residency and financial compensation.
