A severe local storm on Wednesday left several fallen trees and damage to the electrical grid in the popular councils of Santiago de Las Vegas and Nuevo Santiago, both located in the Boyeros municipality of Havana.

Intensely working on assessing the damages caused by a severe local storm that affected the Santiago de Las Vegas and Nuevo Santiago popular councils," stated a person named Héctor Michel Rodríguez Turro on Facebook.

"Now let's recover as quickly as possible," said the user who shared the gallery of photos showing damages to the trees, electrical wiring, and some buildings.

The same user later stated on Facebook that "priority is being given to the recovery of electrical damages caused by the severe local storm in Boyeros," and also posted photographs showing electrical company workers repairing overhead lines.

This Monday, other severe local storms were mainly recorded in provinces in central and eastern Cuba, which caused damage to the electrical infrastructure, homes, and state institutions.

Through the social network X, the Forecast Center of the Meteorology Institute announced the occurrence of storms in the territories of Matanzas, Villa Clara, Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spíritus, Holguín, and Las Tunas. It also reported heavy rains in the central area and the falling of hailstones.
