Exciting funeral in Santiago de Cuba of one of the two young women who died in Las Vegas

The emotional moment took place at Santa Ifigenia Cemetery.

Eliany Gómez, one of the two young Cuban women who passed away in March in Las Vegas, was buried last week in the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery, in Santiago de Cuba, with a heartfelt tribute from family and friends that included the performance of the song "Amor Eterno" by Juan Gabriel, by a group of mariachis.

Two videos posted on Instagram by the crime reporter, Niover Licea, show the overwhelming emotion of the moment.

In the images, numerous people are seen crying and distressed next to the coffin, moments before it is buried.

The bodies of the young women arrived in Havana on May 25, two months after their death in the United States. Cuban authorities delayed the transfer and delivery to their families, citing fuel shortages.

The families denounced the obstacles for the transportation of the corpses, which they attributed to the inefficiency and "lack of respect, empathy, sensitivity, ethics, and feelings" of the government leaders, whom they described as "corrupt."

Eliany Gómez and Thaylien Brindis died on March 24 in the city of Las Vegas, where both resided.

According to versions circulated on social media by family and friends, the young women suffered a fatal intoxication from a drug overdose that someone placed in their drinks while they were at a bar.

At the moment, the results of the police investigation on the case are unknown.

Thay had a young daughter in Cuba and lived in the Sueño neighborhood in the eastern city when she emigrated to the United States in February of this year. Meanwhile, her friend Eliany was the mother of an eight-year-old boy named Christopher, and she grew up in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood.

After the tragic death of the young women became known, relatives and friends requested help through the GoFundMe platform in order to raise the necessary funds to repatriate their bodies and give them burial in their homeland, according to the wishes of their respective families.

I hope that finally they have been able to fulfill.
