A traffic accident involving two motorcycles occurred on the morning of Tuesday on the central Morro Road in the city of Santiago de Cuba.
Independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada reported on Facebook that the incident occurred on Carretera del Morro, between 11th Street and A Street, in front of the Virgen Felizola Sports Complex.
"One of the individuals involved is a military officer, and the other person is the owner of a scooter who presumably took down the stop sign," the reporter noted, based on information sent by their followers.
In the comments section, several people highlighted that many times accidents in Santiago de Cuba involve motorcyclists.
A person named Mario López pointed to the poor condition of the streets, inadequate signage, and the limited number of traffic lights as culpable factors.
Maria Leysi believed that these accidents largely occur due to the reckless and irresponsible attitude of drivers.
Last April, a similar accident occurred on the Siboney Road, near the Iron Bridge, in the town of San Juan, and apparently one of those involved died at the scene.
A collision involving a car and a motorcycle occurred last May in the Flores neighborhood, also in the city of Santiago de Cuba.
The driver of the vehicle took the motorcyclist to the nearest hospital, according to eyewitnesses.
