A 1950s car (known in Cuba as “almendrón”) crashed into an electric pole in Havana on Sunday night.
"Right now at 134 and 51. Motorbike involved. I don't know the causes. Caution drivers, as the end of the year is approaching," warned a user in the Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones'.
A video shared by the same user showed the condition of the almendrón and the motorcycle that was left lying on the road.
The events occurred at Avenida 51 and Calle 134. The causes of the accident are unknown, as is the condition of the individuals involved. At the time of writing this note, neither the authorities nor the state media have reported on the incident.
In mid-November, an accident involving a classic car and a motorcycle occurred in front of the so-called Plaza de la Revolución in Havana.
The incident was reported by a Facebook user in the group 'Accidents Buses & Trucks', where she shared a video showing the scene heavily guarded by police due to its proximity to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), the Council of State, and other government offices located in the Plaza de la Revolución.
The incident occurred on the same day that another almendrón collided with a motorcycle, presumably while trying to avoid a pothole in the road. The events took place at the intersection of Porvenir and Font streets, in the Havana neighborhood of La Víbora, in the municipality of 10 de Octubre.
In mid-May, a traffic accident in Guantánamo resulted in one person dead and another injured following a collision between a vintage car and a motorcycle in the town of San Antonio del Sur.
