The Cuban representative for Miss Universe will be selected next September.

Around 20 contestants will participate in a television show in September, from which the queen of the Miss Universe Cuba pageant will emerge.

The 20 women who will compete for the crown of Miss Universe Cuba (MUC), on their way to the Miss Universe pageant, will participate in a television show on September 15. The Caribbean country's queen will be selected, announced the event's organizers on Monday.

The National Director of MUC, Prince Julio César, in an interview published on Instagram and granted to Enrique Santos, mentioned that after the virtual casting, in which 578 young people participated, between 150 and 200 candidates will be chosen, from which finally the 20 contestants who will participate in the September television program will be selected.

The Venezuelan fashion designer hinted that the three-hour live TV show will be broadcasted all over the United States, from coast to coast, suggesting that Cuba's return to the Miss Universe beauty pageant will be a grand event.

Julio César, who was chosen to direct the MUC because he has more than two decades of professional career in the beauty industry, considered it "wonderful that Cuba has the opportunity to return to Miss Universe."

He also mentioned that, despite having concluded the virtual casting, which received applications from young people from both inside and outside the island, if any other Cuban woman wishes to participate, she simply must contact the organizers through the contest's website.

Regarding the requirements, he/she recalled that the contestant must be Cuban or have at least one of their parents with that nationality, and stated that age, height, or physical build do not matter.

"Cuban women living on the island can participate, as long as they are able to travel to Miami to compete, they are welcome," she noted.

Recently, the national director of MUC assured journalist Luis Alfonso Borrego, during the Univisión television program "Siéntese Quien Pueda," that the platform he leads is "of beauty, of a positive message, of unity, of respect, of equality, because those are the canons of Miss Universe."

The Venezuelan designer and fashion consultant stated that MUC is a cultural platform, not political.
