Apple made a historic milestone by announcing the integration of artificial intelligence into their devices, a highly anticipated move by OpenAI technology enthusiasts.

At its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple revealed its alliance with OpenAI, a bold move that not only introduces new AI capabilities into its products but also redefines the company's approach to generative artificial intelligence.

The company introduced "Apple Intelligence," a generative artificial intelligence system designed specifically for its devices and applications.

This integration includes not only Apple's own developments, but also a direct collaboration with OpenAI, the organization behind ChatGPT.

The importance of this announcement lies in the expectation generated by Apple's foray into generative AI. The company, known for its vertical integration, surprises by collaborating with a third party like OpenAI.

However, this move promises to be beneficial, as it will allow users of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 to access the capabilities of GPT-4 without having to abandon their usual applications.

One of the most prominent features of this integration is that ChatGPT will be available in various experiences within iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Users will be able to interact with artificial intelligence to make inquiries, generate content, and even create images. Siri, Apple's virtual assistant, will benefit from this integration, being able to use ChatGPT's intelligence to offer more precise and contextual answers.

Apple has ensured that user privacy will be a priority in this collaboration. Requests will not be stored by OpenAI and user IP addresses will be hidden, thus ensuring a high level of security and privacy.

Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Apple, highlighted that Apple's AI will be more efficient thanks to its integration into applications and its understanding of the user and their context.

On the other hand, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, emphasizing that both share a commitment to security and innovation.

The integration of ChatGPT will be free and will not require an OpenAI account. However, ChatGPT Plus subscribers will be able to link their profiles to take advantage of the benefits of the paid plan.

This new functionality will be available by the end of this year, marking a before and after in the user experience of Apple devices.

The announcement has generated various reactions, including that of Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who expressed his reservations about the integration of OpenAI into Apple devices, citing security concerns and stating that he will ban them in his offices.

"And visitors will have to leave their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage," added the magnate.

Despite these criticisms, analysts believe that Apple's investment in generative AI will open new frontiers for the company, positively impacting its products and services.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, emphasized that the integration of generative AI should be intuitive, easy to use, and deeply integrated into product experiences. Additionally, it should understand and be based on the user's personal context, always respecting privacy.

The presentation of iOS 18 also included novelties such as a redesign of the control center and new customization options.

Apple strengthened its focus on privacy and security, offering users the possibility to "lock" apps with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. This feature is particularly useful for protecting sensitive apps such as banking or insurance apps.

Text messages will also be enhanced, with the ability to send messages via satellite and schedule deliveries.

Likewise, Apple showed updates for its Vision Pro mixed reality headset, which promises to offer more immersive and advanced experiences thanks to enhanced machine learning.

With the introduction of generative AI functions in its devices, Apple positions itself at the forefront of technological innovation.

The integration of ChatGPT and the new capabilities of Siri promise to transform the user experience, while the focus on privacy and security reinforces trust in the company's products.

This partnership with OpenAI not only propels Apple into the future but also sets a new standard in the technology industry.
