Cuban immigrants are detained after illegally crossing the US border.

Authorities intercepted a group of 88 migrants in Texas, of whom 38 single adults - including an unspecified number of Cubans - were arrested, facing criminal charges for trespassing on private property.

Agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) arrested 38 immigrants, including Cubans, from a group of 88 who crossed the border with Mexico illegally this Tuesday.

The large group included families, single adults, and unaccompanied children who illegally crossed through private property in Maverick County, as reported on network X by Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, spokesperson for the DPS in the South Texas region.

Out of the total number of intercepted migrants, authorities detained 38 single adults who are facing criminal charges for trespassing.

These individuals come from Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru, Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, and were transferred to the Val Verde Processing Center, indicated Olivarez. The number of Cubans arrested was not specified.

A video published by the official shows the moment when the undocumented immigrants are spotted by the authorities, after crossing illegally the border between Mexico and the United States through the county in the southern state.

The operation is part of the state of Texas' efforts to reduce illegal border crossings in the border area belonging to its territory, through the controversial Operation Lone Star, launched in 2021 by Governor Greg Abbott.

The Republican blames the policies of President Joe Biden's administration for the massive arrival and illegal entry of migrants through the Texas border with Mexico.

Last week, Biden signed a group of executive actions that will prevent irregular migrants who illegally cross the southern border from receiving asylum in the U.S.

The president issued an order under sections 212(f) and 215(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) suspending the entry of non-citizens who illegally cross the border.

One day later, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) announced that he was seeking an agreement with the United States government so that immigrants are not returned to Mexico after the implementation of the measure approved by Biden.

AMLO proposed an agreement between the countries of origin of the migrants and the United States to address the increase in asylum requests and deportations from that country.
