Cuban authorities began this Friday the controlled demolition of a wall at risk of collapse in Central Havana.
The Plaza de la Revolución Municipal Assembly of People's Power reported that on Friday afternoon, the controlled demolition of the dangerous wall on Zapata Street between Infanta and Mazon was carried out.
The company CNA Bacuranao carried out the process, during which the traffic circulation was interrupted.
According to the information, during the demolition, a small collapse of a lintel occurred a few meters away without causing any damage to people or houses.
This month, several buildings in Havana have collapsed due to heavy rains. In early June, part of a building in Old Havana, located at 417 Esperanza Street, between Carmen and Figuras streets, collapsed. The building had been at risk of collapse for years.
The Meteorological Institute has warned that the rains will continue in the coming days, forcing the regime to act immediately on critical buildings that could collapse.
