Residents in the locality of Altamira in the municipality of Santiago de Cuba denounce the dirtiness that surrounds a school and a daycare center, where waste accumulates after days without garbage collection.
The parents of the children who attend Rubén Martínez Villena primary school, better known as Don Bosco, and the Amiguitos del Mundo daycare center, have protested against the dumpsters located next to both facilities.
According to the communicator Yosmany Mayeta Labrada revealed on Facebook, the garbage dump is located on Gasómetro street and 12th street, and its stench reaches the nearest classrooms.
"Days have passed without the garbage being collected, they throw dead dogs, food, and even male animal intestines there," an outraged mother recounted.
Nobody does anything, the president of the Vista Hermosa Popular Council lives nearby and it's just for show. He spends his time circling the neighborhood to make you think he's working, but he doesn't solve anything," he added.
In another dumpster, located near the daycare center and the supermarket on 7 de Mármol Street, garbage mixes with stagnant dirty water.
"No one pays attention to the young children anymore; they no longer care if a child gets sick with dengue or Oropouche; they talk about the living conditions of other people in the world and do not want to see how we Cubans live," the author of the photos told the reporter.
