A significant accident involving three trucks occurred early Saturday morning on the National Highway, near the province of Sancti Spíritus.
Despite the dramatic images, witnesses report that there are no fatalities, although it is unclear if there were any serious injuries.
A video recorded from a bus that passed through the area showed the unfortunate condition in which the involved vehicles were left, still at the scene of the accident on the morning of this Saturday.
Other images shared by witnesses in the Facebook group Traffic Accidents documented on-site how the trucks involved in the incident were left. According to reports from users on social media, a Scania cargo truck and two passenger trucks were involved.
"There's a major accident between Punta Diamante and the entrance to Fomento in Sancti Spíritus. Three trucks are involved. There are no fatalities at the moment, according to authorities," noted internet user Julio César Cárdenas in the mentioned group.
A witness who passed by the area on Saturday morning indicated that there were many cans on the ground that appeared to be beer.
Indeed, in one of the published photos, there are cans that apparently were being transported by one of the vehicles involved in the accident.
The son of one of the drivers stated that his father and the friend accompanying him only suffered "bruises" but could have died, all because of a "headless" person who was intoxicated, according to the family source.
"Thanks to my God they are alive; the car is good for nothing else," he added.
"His dad was born. I was the first to get there. It was ugly; the man had a face full of cuts from the glass," noted a commentator.
One source placed the accident at kilometer 210 of the highway, near Placetas, while another located it at kilometer 311, near Fomento.
As of the closing of this report, no further details are available regarding the incident.
