A dramatic collision occurred around 6 PM this Friday on the Pinar del Río Highway between a Lada and a truck, leaving the Russian car in ruins.
Fortunately, despite the shocking condition of the Lada, several internet users have noted that there were no injuries.
The driver of the Lada was alone in the vehicle, and in fact, an internet user who claimed to know him specified that he is the one wearing an orange sweater in one of the images shared in the Facebook group Accidents Buses & Trucks.
"I called him. He is fine. He’s the one in the photo wearing the orange sweater. He wasn’t with anyone else. Only the damage that can be seen in the photo. Thank God there were no personal injuries," wrote Damián Sieres in the mentioned group.
"That's my partner from San Juan, Pinar del Río. It was amazing—the best car the province had and the one that ran the most. In the end, it was destroyed. A car that had everything, with nothing to envy from a modern one," Sieres wrote in another comment.
Other internet users pointed out that the vehicle seemingly came from the airport, judging by the number of packages visible in the back seats.
The causes of the collision are unknown, which left the yellow truck with much less damage compared to the Russian vehicle.
Others described the incident as a "multiple collision," as it turned out that after traffic abruptly halted due to the accident, a vintage car collided with the back of a rental vehicle and pushed it onto a truck, causing severe damage to the rental car.
"Indeed, I was driving my car and I moved forward quickly, fearing that someone would hit me from behind. Just as I advanced, I felt a crash behind me. I got out to see what happened and found two small girls in the tuk-tuk that the almendrón had crashed into from behind, pushing it under the trailer that was in front of it. Fortunately, none of the occupants was injured," described a commentator.
The cause of the incident between the Lada and the truck has not been revealed. Some attribute it to an alleged speeding of the Lada, while others directly blamed the driver of the truck for what happened.
The incident occurred in front of the entrance to Los Pocitos, in La Lisa, a witness reported.
