A young Chilean woman married to a Cuban shared a funny anecdote on TikTok about her confusion with a phrase from a Chocolate song.
Through the profile "Joaquín y Cami" (@juaquin_cami), he addressed how he had discovered the meaning of 'darla con maldad', included in the lyrics of "El Palón Divino" by the Cuban reggaeton artist.
Everything happened after her Cuban husband uploaded a photo of them to social media and many of their friends commented with that phrase.
Not understanding its meaning, Cami thought it implied that she had been mean to Joaquín, until she researched and discovered the reference to the famous song, which made her laugh and feel embarrassed by her initial interpretation.
In the same video, the young woman shared other facets of her life and the words of Cuban Spanish she has adopted; she mentioned that she likes "jevita", the interjection "ño", and that she no longer refers to the United States by its official name but rather with the term "el Yuma".
About gastronomy, she confessed that being married to a Cuban has led her to learn to cook typical dishes from the island, and proudly boasted that yuca with mojo and cold salad are her specialties. She also recounted that her son, despite attempts to familiarize him with Chilean food, prefers to have rice and black beans for breakfast.
The followers on TikTok responded with reactions of all kinds: "I am Cuban and I have never had rice and beans for breakfast"; "I can't stand the ño."; "I am Cuban and I don't know what 'con maldad' means, what is the name of the Chocolate song?" can be read among the hundreds of reactions to the post.
