The Plaza de la Revolución Administration Council issued an official statement detailing the situation of the Girón building, after a large fire occurred this past Saturday.

Despite the authorities' report, there are still questions regarding the management and the lack of transparency surrounding this incident.

The administration notes in its report that residents in the Girón tower have begun to return to their homes, but it does not detail the conditions of those apartments or the security guarantees in the building that already had structural issues.

While one part of the building already has electricity, work is still being done on the wiring in the wing affected by the fire, raising doubts about the delay in restoring an essential service.

On Saturday night, the technicians managed to enable the necessary motor for supplying water to the apartments.

The government said that "the neighbors received food provided by the authorities of the capital and by economic actors who voluntarily joined in a supportive manner."

The Electric Company of Havana will carry out an evaluation this Sunday for the replacement of the electrical wiring by levels in the building. They did not provide a clear date for when all affected families will have electricity again.

Cuban authorities have not provided any information about the cause of the fire that was controlled by the Cuban Firefighters on Saturday afternoon, when the city experienced major flooding due to heavy rains at the time of writing this note.
