Cuban in the U.S. keeps liquor bottles: "Decorates with coffee water"

A young influencer shared a video showing this old Cuban custom. Even though she tried to throw away the bottles, her mother prevented it.

A video circulating on social media shows a Cuban woman in the U.S. storing some liquor bottles with the intention of filling them with water and a little bit of coffee to simulate rum and use them as decorations.

This highlights an old custom acquired by those born in the Caribbean country of recycling and reusing old containers, which were then placed in cabinets, simulating being filled with alcoholic beverages.

The influencer Lianet Martí shared on Instagram the video showing her mother, determined to follow the old Cuban ritual, rescuing two bottles of liquor from the trash and expressing that she will fill them with water and a little coffee.

"I still have something from Cuba," said the mother, very determined to give a new purpose to the bottles.

"Tell me you have a Cuban mom, without telling me you have a Cuban mom," pointed out the young Martí, who tried, unsuccessfully, to throw the containers in the trash.

In the comments section, many people agreed that it is indeed an old custom acquired and transmitted in various households in Cuba.

One of the people said that in Venezuela and Paraguay, in some households, it is done the same way.

Others pointed out that outside of Cuba they have maintained that and other customs.
