A traffic accident that occurred this Thursday in the city of Santiago de Cuba involved two motorcycles that collided at a busy intersection, leaving at least two people injured.
The journalist Yosmany Mayeta posted on Facebook that the incident occurred at the intersection of Escario and Second Street, in the Santa Barbara neighborhood.
According to the communicator, initial reports indicate that the driver of the red motorcycle, who was traveling along Second Street, did not respect the "Stop" sign, which requires stopping, and collided with the other motorcycle that was traveling along Escario Street, which has the right of way.
The injured individuals were taken to a hospital in the city, but we do not have their personal information or the severity of their injuries," Mayeta stated, without providing information about the presence of companions on both motorcycles.
Accidents involving motorcycles are quite common in Santiago de Cuba.
Just 10 days ago, a traffic accident occurred in Cuabitas, Santiago de Cuba, when a young motorcyclist collided with a car from the Operational Guard of the National Revolutionary Police.
Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was riding at high speed and, after the collision, was left lying on the street.
After the impact, the young man underwent surgery twice, but ultimately passed away.
The motorcyclist received an emotional farewell, which included a large funeral procession of drivers.
