When the clocks were close to noon, a motorcyclist violated traffic laws on Wednesday and caused two people to fall off his motorcycle, who fortunately only ended up with minor injuries, according to the account of one of the affected individuals in the Facebook group "BUS & TRUCK ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims!".
User Lisy Almenares reported the incident that endangered her life and that of her husband, while also calling for awareness on the road, to respect traffic signs, and to have empathy, as the offender fled the scene.
The accident, which occurred on Calzada del Cerro in Havana, happened when the driver (accompanied by a woman) ran a red light and caused the fall of two people who were riding on a motorcycle, resulting in "a sprain and a couple of scratches, a broken mirror, and a couple of broken plastic parts."
I hope that karma and life make you realize, without wishing you harm, that when one makes these kinds of mistakes and causes harm, there are consequences, my friend. Today it was us, but tomorrow it could be you or her," the internet user wrote, referring to the shamelessness and lack of awareness, because she chose to flee.
"You should have stayed and helped," he said, adding, "maybe you would have felt at peace with yourself if you care about people's lives, but you ran away like a scared sewer rat, like the unscrupulous wretch you are, and thank God my husband didn't find you because you weren't even worth it."
Furthermore, Almenares thanked the people who did help and urged to respect the traffic lights: "it's just a minute at most that you have to wait, that's worth life and the future."
Likewise, on Thursday morning, two motorcycles collided at a very busy intersection in Santiago de Cuba, leaving at least two injured. Just two days ago, a woman died and her companion was seriously injured after a crash between an electric motorcycle and a Yutong bus on the central streets of Boyeros and Tulipán, in front of the Ministry of Transportation in Havana.
In the previous day, the motorcyclist David Lesyan Rodríguez Diez, 32 years old, was seriously injured after crashing into a pole in Songo-La Maya, Santiago de Cuba.
Likewise, there was a recorded accident involving a couple who died last week after a collision between a motorcycle and a rickshaw in the town of Redención, in the municipality of Minas, Camagüey.
And in Cuabitas, Santiago de Cuba, a young motorcyclist who was speeding crashed into a police car just a few days ago. Despite undergoing surgery, the man passed away.
The number of accidents on the roads has been increasing in recent months, due to irresponsibility and also to the energy crisis, as intersections with traffic lights turned off have become common scenarios for collisions across the country.
