A Cuban man is arrested for illegal dumping of garbage in Hialeah

Osniel Lezcano Blanco, 38, was arrested for dumping waste in an area of the city of Hialeah on June 6th. Another person is being sought by the police in connection with the crime, which violates Florida's Garbage Law.


The Hialeah police arrested a Cuban man who was caught on surveillance cameras illegally dumping trash in an area of that city in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

The suspect is named Osniel Lezcano Blanco, 38 years old, and was arrested last Tuesday for the incident that occurred on June 6th, near 44 West Avenue and 108th Street, as reported by AmericaTeVé.

The police pointed out that Lezcano was caught on video around 12:30 p.m. that day, while driving a 2022 Isuzu truck, with an illegal homemade trailer attached loaded with waste that he dumped on the site.

"In the CCTV [closed-circuit television] footage, it is clearly shown that while Lezcano was driving, another man was seen unloading items from the trailer onto the ground," said Officer Scarlett Hernández, spokesperson for the Police Department, to Local 10 News.

The video allowed for the identification of the Cuban man, who was arrested on a charge of violation of the Florida Litter Law and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight (TGK) jail in Miami-Dade.

According to Hernández, after his arrest, Lezcano "fully confessed to the crime."

The second person seen in the surveillance video has not been arrested yet, as reported by Local 10 News.

The authorities asked any citizen with information about that other person to contact the Hialeah Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

Last May, the images of two teenagers causing outrage in Miami by throwing trash into the water in front of Boca Raton, a city in Palm Beach County.

The young people were charged with third-degree felony offenses for causing pollution that can harm or jeopardize the health or well-being of humans, as well as animals and plants in the marine ecosystem.
